When Rihanna stuns everyone at the Met Gala last year wearing the epic yellow cape dress Guo Pei made for her, the fashion world echoed her name among the who’s who in the fashion world.   Guo Pei’s creations were compared from the likes of Alexander McQueen, Coco Chanel and the other big names in the haute couture industry.

The 48–year old Beijing born designer has been designing ensembles for big Asian superstars like Li Bingbing and Zhang Ziyi. Exploiting and exploring her passion in fairytales and the rich cultural history of her motherland China, Pei was so much into the rich magical and fantastic oriental themes on her creations. So grandeur in fact one of her exquisitely made gowns was being exhibited at the Met.

Her design dubbed ‘Magnificent Gold’ was so enormous; it needed to be enshrined in a single room to let the gown details in full view. Another of her epic creation she called ‘Blue & Porcelain’ was inspired by the versatility and intricacy of China porcelain creations which apparently took 10,000 hours to make and complete.

Watch Guo Pei creations come alive on the catwalk during the Fashion Channel’s Haute Couture Spring Summer 2016 Collection.
